Photo #5

I took this photograph when I was at the TMA social. I walked out to the water and was impressed by how pretty a tiny little space could look. At first it was difficult to try to show how beautiful everything was, but then I decided to try to capture it from a different angle. I had been trying to take a picture of the creek straight on, and that just wasn't working. It wasn't until I started focusing on the trees that I captured everything. Here we get to see the rocks, trees, grass, and water. They kind of blend together to capture almost an abstract, Pollock like image, especially near the top.

  1. Although I see the levels of the trees against the river, with the exception of the tree in the foreground, this image feels flat to me. Maybe it's the consistency of tone or the ambiguity of shape.

  2. Is this taken on your iPhone? I'm impressed. For some reason, capturing simple landscapes like this are so hard to make look beautiful on the iPhone. However, you nailed it. With the abstract feeling you talk about, it somehow makes it seem like this picture has a lot more life than your typical inanimate object shot. Yes, I am aware plants are alive, but you get what I'm saying. Great shot, homie.

  3. Cool image, but I think the trees have an even greater potential for framing the image. Try to play around with more shots like this, and you might be able to get an even better picture.
