I took this photo during my cousin's wedding. Initially, I had put them toward the right of the frame because I wanted to avoid showing some equipment that was kind of an eyesore. But then I started to really like the contrast of them with the open beach and ocean behind. It made it really feel like this moment was all about them. I thought about this image and what meaning I could add to it. It kind of sounds corny, the open space around them represents the opportunities that they'll have as a newly married couple. The contrast in light between their dark silhouettes and the bright sun also made the moment look special because the sun suggests a hopeful, bright future in my mind.
This feels like the sun is watching them, shining on their day. Nice composition.
ReplyDeleteI agree that the composition is great. My first reaction though was very different from your intention. I saw this couple in darkness and it played out as a narrative for me as a bad omen. I can't see their faces or expressions. Your explanation totally makes sense. I guess I just like to but an evil double-meaning twist on things.
ReplyDeleteLove the composition and sense of depth given by the bank further out. Had that not been there, perhaps this image would've looked flatter. Great picture!
